About GGE
Godsgreenearth is a personal finance blog from the perspective of a 30-something Christian guy, leading a ‘normal’ life in modern America.
The purpose of this blog is two-fold:
- To keep myself accountable to keep up healthy financial practices and a venue to be able to track my progress as I learn how to get out of debt, and save money for retirement. I’ve always found that writing things down, even telling others, helps solidify the concept in my head, and allows me to critically think about something.
- To give you what I find to be valuable information so you can improve your financial smarts and become financially independent along with me.
This blog will appeal to people to who make an average wage, are working their way out of debt (mortgage or otherwise) or want to save better now in order to live comfortably in retirement. You’ll find tips/suggestions/stories on getting out of debt and saving money, and learning to invest wisely, as I learn them.
Life is full of adventures and lessons and I’ll be sure to relay some of them in my content, as long as I think it’ll provide value and a lesson learned.
About Me
I’m an average guy, not a financial genius, a little nervous about my financial condition, and trying to improve it a day at a time.
I work a busy 9-5 job as an IT guy for a marketing company, have a great wife and 3 great kids, and have been a “practicing” Christian since I was about 17. My wife and I have been through some financial struggles since we got married, so I’ve already learned a bunch of tough lessons that have helped me “grow up” financially.
Contrary to some popular ambitions, conveyed on lots of other websites, I have no desire to get “rich”, I simply want to:
- Save enough to live off of in retirement.
- Have plenty to give away to those in need. (Acts 10:2)
- Leave a pile of money for my kids. (Proverbs 13:22)
I honestly think that’s what most people want, so it gives me comfort to know that I’m in good company and doing my part to helping people achieve their goals.
Thanks for stopping by!
